Working together to create your web site.

Approach

My preferred method is to work alongside clients so that they understand how their website is created and how it works. This way they are more able to make meaningful decisions about updates and improvements.

It starts with a conversation, during which I ask lots of questions. Why do you want a website? What information/images/videos do you want to include? Who are your clients? What are they looking for? Which websites do you like (and why)? What do you want yours to look like? I make lots of notes which are reorganised before moving to paper, to produce a few sketches of text and image areas to explore various possibilities. Once these have been analysed and developed, if necessary, the final layout, colour, logos and fonts are decided.

A basic framework for the site is then created as the text is written before everything gets put into the right place - images, text and links between pages - and the site is released for testing. When we are sure that everything is working correctly, the site can be actively promoted and used.

The actual build depends on the client. HTML and CSS if you are keen, but it still needs to be hosted and updated. For simplicity, I recommend a web hosting company that includes a site builder - and my personal preference, the one I have used to create this site, is Zyro. There are others - the choice is yours - but when I was looking for one that is easy to use, Zyro topped my list. And I don't get commission if you sign up!
